With many pundits and neutral fans alike, forecasting the EPL trophy to be heading to Stamford bridge come the end of the season, here's five reasons why they might just be right.
The return of Mourinho
The special one's second coming is the main reason why Chelsea are favorites with the bookies to clinch the title come May. There is simply no better man-manager in world football than Mourinho.
He inspires loyalty, and with his proven ability to bring out the very best from his players, expect to see some of last season's underperformers finally stepping up to the plate.
Strength in depth
Of all the teams gunning for the title this season, Chelsea FC probably has the deepest squad. With at least two quality internationals vying for each position, the club is well-equipped to cover for injuries and suspensions throughout the course of the season.
The reinvigoration of the old guard
Most of the team's spine during Mourinho’s first spell in charge is still intact, and although in their thirties, seem to have found a new lease of life under the special one.
With Lampard still banging in the goals, Petr Cech still one of the best in the business, Ashley Cole evergreen and John Terry rediscovering his form of old, don't be surprised to see Chelsea run away with the league this term.
Eden hazard
Having had a full season already under his belt, this is the season that Eden Hazard should finally blossom to stake his rightful place among the top 5 footballers in the world.
Expect Mourinho to immensely improve the diminutive Belgian just like he did to Christiano Ronaldo at Real.
Inexperienced rivals
Manchester united won the premier league last season, not because they were good but mainly because their main rivals were either complacent or in transition.
This season however, both Manchester clubs have new managers facing new challenges while Chelsea look more settled, with a familiar figure in Mourinho who understands the club inside out.
